Nothing makes me dry heave harder than New Years’ Eve.

The fanfare. The overpriced cocktails. The crowds. The SWEAT. I am in full confidence that society’s NYE planning committee is compiled solely of extroverts.

That said, it is an excuse to show up somewhere over-dressed, champagne drunk and perpetually annoyed, which is how I spend most weekends, anyway. Below, I’ve compiled three NYE looks that I feel will serve you well for ~*the club*~, the house party, or even your parents’ basement.

Out on the Town: Feathers and Leather

I’m DEAD for this secondhand skirt find. I have short legs, which means I always go for a shorter hemline and skirts that can withstand a sweater tuck, as I find it helps with the proportions of the look, and doesn’t compete with the feathery statement this skirt makes.

The Dinner Party: Stacked Earrings and Suede

This will be the third winter I’m living in these over-the-knee Sam Edelman boots, and I’m not even a little sorry about it. I paired an old suede BCBG dress with a navy crewneck and black fur wrap, then finished it off with my favorite Lizzie Fortunato earrings I picked up from a Rent the Runway sale last fall — similar items linked in the Power Players section below!

The House Party: Tassels and Plaid
